The Mt. Baker neighborhood is a diverse one with a variety of residential, commercial and light industrial land. It is also one of the fastest growing areas in the city. Most local residents refer to the neighborhood as the Barkley Village. The majority of commercial property is located in Barkley Village or along Sunset Drive. Both areas boast shops, restaurants, banks and services. The northern part of the neighborhood is mostly light industrial along Hannegan Road while the east side of the community is residential.
There is a mix of single family and multi-family residences, most having been built in the past 20 years in very well planned subdivisions. Many homes are built on the hill providing spectacular views over the city and the bay. There are several well-established neighborhoods as well as some newer condominiums. The streets are lightly trafficked and are lined with nice homes and well-manicured lawns.
